In September 2018, LUVA secured the bid for Shandong Jinmei Mingshengda Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 400,000-ton synthetic ammonia and 800,000-ton urea project. Our comprehensive services include process packages, engineering design, main equipment supply, installation guidance, and debugging assistance. The synthesis units, independently designed and manufactured by LUVA, feature a core equipment converter loaded with 98m3 of catalyst, measuring 2800mm in diameter, 28000mm in height, and weighing 600 tons.
Thanks to the relentless efforts of the LUVA team, the ammonia synthesis unit successfully commenced operations in August 2020. The unit’s catalyst heated up, initiating the reaction process, and smoothly transitioned into normal production. By August 2020, our company completed the device debugging process and officially handed it over to the customer. Achieving superior performance to design values, key indicators include a net ammonia value of 18.5%, an operating pressure of 13.0MPaG, and a daily liquid ammonia output of 2,300 tons. All technical parameters surpass design values, positioning key metrics at the forefront of international standards.
After over 20 years of research, practice, and innovation, LUVA has overcome technical barriers in ammonia synthesis, establishing the most advanced nitrogen fertilizer synthesis technology in Asia. Production efficiency is notably high, with each ton of ammonia requiring only 830 kilowatt hours, resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions by 74,000 tons annually compared to similar products.
With a total project investment of US$650 million and an anticipated annual turnover of approximately US$420 million, the project’s 600,000-ton liquid ammonia and 800,000-ton urea output is expected to achieve cost recovery within 4 years. The successful commissioning of this project not only signifies a new milestone in China’s chemical manufacturing industry but also lays a solid foundation for LUVA’s gas synthesis equipment to penetrate the international market.
